The seed of unforgiveness
verb (forgives, forgiving; past forgave, past participle forgiven) 1. (transitive) To pardon, to waive any negative feeling or desire for punishment.
Only the brave know how to forgive…A coward never forgave; it is not in his nature. -Laurence Sterne
2. (intransitive) To accord forgiveness.
The real thing about forgiveness is that it is a dust out and burn operation.
There is no such thing as “forgive and forget” . The latter is a subset of the former.
Let’s say the truth. The whole idea of forgiving is pardoning. And what it means is that you take it as though it never happened. Give a clean slate, a fresh start, another chance. So let us stop the mundane mind of forgiving but not forgetting.
If you want to forgive, forgive and go on with your life. Stop fooling yourself by being religious. Am going to be quick with this post but I don’t want you to lose the crux and theme of this post. Let’s put aside our smeared idiosyncrasies and look at this with a fresh eye. Forget all you have learnt, all you think you know. It’s time to unlearn and relearn. This is what this generation needs. The generation of our parents have sown some evil seeds in us while growing. Some silly mindset that have crippled our mind to this level. But it is time to breakforth and breakthrough thereby breaking out for good. But we will do it one step at a time, one word at a time, one idea at a time. We cannot rush things at this stage. The quicker you try to loose the old knots, the worse you make it. So we gonna take it slow and easy.
Forgiveness is the topic for the day. We need to look at this again and see how well we have gone. I hear people who are proud of keeping malice for years… What’s the meaning of that? That’s so filthy! It’s just like keeping raw meet in your mouth for years and you are proud of it. It’s gonna kill you if you don’t throw it out.
Unforgiveness is a seed that needs to be destroyed. But it can grow so fast and take root if not well handled.
Just like the magic beans that grows instantly when it feels water, that’s how fast the seed of unforgiveness can take root in our heart.
Many years ago, a lady came to me for a deliverance session, after questioning her to find the root of her oppression, I realized it was “unforgiveness”. I led her to let go of all her hurt and pain (this took a while because it is not to be rushed), eventually, she was free. She didn’t need some authoritative prayers, all she needed to be free was forgiveness.
Unforgiveness is like taking a poison and expecting the other person to die. We all know that aiint gonna happen.
Learn to walk in love, it may not be easy initially, but in time you will see the worth of it. Besides a life lived in love is one that is so close to God… For God is love. (you all know am not talking about nothing but the agape love… Just so we are clear)
