Why you are not forgiven.

I see many people come to me to confess their sins or confide in me when they talk about the areas that are coming short of purpose. I have come to see something similar in many of the situations.

Sure they get emotional and all, but their feeling is so shallow and momentary.

Many people ‘feel sorry’ without ‘being sorry’. There is a difference in this. Feeling sorry is a feeling we express when we realise the consequences of our actions. With this we tend to hasten the harshness of the effect by pleading for mercy. This is a fallen technique with can’t move a stone talk less of moving God. Some may see this as being manipulative but it’s not going to lead anywhere.

Feeling sorry is not good enough. You have to BE SORRY! And the only thing that proves you are sorry would be your nest step or action.

If after a few days, weeks or months you still find yourself falling and failing to keep with your promise or resolution then you were not sorry, or maybe at a point along the way you changed your mind and went back into what you claimed to be sorry for.

The path to forgiveness is not a solo mission. It’s a mutual responsibility.

Jesus shared this fact when he taught his disciples how to pray.

“…Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

This is clear and plain. If you want to be forgiven, then you must learn to forgive those who wrong you.

This was a new thing to adapt to because during the time of Jesus, the means of forgiveness was the slaughtering of an animal. But Jesus taught his disciples the higher law! If you want to be forgiven, then you must be free from grudge or wrong.

You cannot be forgiven if you choose not to forgive those who offend you.

This generation is so accustomed to sin and yet they begin for mercy! Mercy can come only when you let go of the wrong you are doing.
The intention to let go is not enough, you need to let go and be free. That’s how to stay forgiven.
